On March 11, 2024, India achieved a significant milestone by successfully testing the Agni-5 ballistic missile with multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRVs). This technology places India among elite nations with advanced missile capabilities. MIRVs enhance deterrence by making missile defense more challenging and increase payload capacity for striking multiple targets. The project was led by female scientists, highlighting India's commitment to gender diversity in defense research and development.

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has confirmed the existence of three tiny moons in our solar system'S/2023 U1 orbiting Uranus and S/2002 N5 and S/2021 N1 around Neptune. S/2023 U1, at approximately 5 miles in diameter, is one of the smallest moons and orbits Uranus every 680 days. The Neptunian moons, S/2002 N5 (14.3 miles in diameter) and S/2021 N1 (8.7 miles in diameter) bring Neptune's total satellites to 16. Astronomer Scott Sheppard, involved in the discoveries, overcame challenges in detecting these faint moons using specialized image processing techniques, emphasizing the power of advanced telescopes to reveal previously hidden objects in the outer solar system.

Bhavish Aggarwal's AI startup, Krutrim, recently launched an AI chatbot in public beta, similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. With a recent $50-million financing at a $1-billion valuation, Krutrim became India's first AI unicorn in 2024. The AI chatbot, also named Krutrim, is the company's first product, powered by its multilingual large language models. Krutrim's AI models can understand over 20 Indian languages and generate text in 10 languages. The startup plans to introduce a more sophisticated version, Krutrim Pro, in Q4 FY24, which will be multimodal and possess advanced problem-solving capabilities. Krutrim aims to expand into AI infrastructure, data centers, server and edge computing, and the manufacturing of AI-optimized silicon chips. In 2023, Fintech company InCred and e-commerce app Zepto became India's unicorns.
